Trek Overview:

Tibet incorporated Mustang into its empire under the reign of Songtsen Gampo, the most famous Tibetan king. However, by the 14th century, Mustang emerged as an independent dynasty under the rule of Ame Pal. This newfound autonomy wouldn’t last forever, though. In the late 18th century, Nepal annexed Mustang, making it a tributary kingdom. Tibetan Lamaism on the roof of the world, you’ll discover communities of rare beauty, great strength, and extreme fragility. The inhabitants of this region bestowed the name Mustang upon their land, a fitting title that translates to “mountain plain.” This moniker perfectly captures the area’s dominant characteristic: vast stretches of rugged, unadorned mountains. High pastures dominate the landscape, transforming into vibrant displays of life during the monsoon season. Lush greenery bursts forth, painting the mountainsides in a tapestry of blooms, breathing life into the entire region.
