Pisang Peak Climbing takes to the iconic Pisang Village. A settlement in Manang District in the northern part of Nepal. The village is nestled in the Marsyangdi River valley, on the foothills of Pisang Peak, north of Annapurna II, and west of Paungda Danda. This iconic climbing takes you to isolated sections crossing lush hills of central Nepal, high alpine grasslands, and rocky mountains with moderate peak climbing. The Pisang Peak summit is at an elevation of  6,091 meters/1,9984 feet. Despite the altitude, the climb is non-technical in most of the sections and is ideal for first-time climbers and experienced ones.

Starting of our Journey

The 14 days Pisang Peak Climbing starts once you reach the settlement of Chamje nestled in the magical Marsyangdi Valley. A drive from Kathmandu valley following the banks of Trishuli and Marsyangdi River takes to Chamje. From the settlement of Chamje head towards Dharapani traversing across a lush and deep wilderness of central Nepal. Next from Dharapani head towards Chame, passing the settlement of Koto. Koto is one of the isolated villages on this trail and the gateway to the mystical Nar Phu Valley.

From Chame head deeper into the Marsyangdi Valley, crossing a natural wonder of carving known as Swarga Dwari, translated as ‘Gates to Heaven.’ After you cross this section, you will reach the village nestled on the banks of the mighty Marsyangdi River with views of Annapurna II on the backdrop, the settlement of Upper Pisang. Explore the village and learn about the culture and lifestyles of the locals.

Pisang Peak Base Camp

Next, after an acclimatization excursion, the following day heads towards Pisang Peak Base Camp. A Kharka nestled on a ridge provides majestic views of the snowcapped giants. From the base camp head towards Pisang Peak High Camp and start your pre-climbing training. The following day you will scale the Pisang Peak. The trail to the peak is not technical, but you will be using fixed ropes at some sections. From the summit witness views of Chulu Range, Annapurna Massif, Damodar Peak, Manaslu, Glacier Dome, and Tilicho Peak. After spending a brief time at the summit head back down towards the base camp. Next, retrace your steps backcrossing several settlements in the dense woodland to Chame. From Chame head towards your transportation and back to Kathmandu valley.

Itinerary

The flight into Nepal is breathtaking, with views of the Himalayas and lush green hills. A representative from Female Guide Kathmandu will meet you, drive you to your hotel, and assist you in check-in. After a brief rest head out and take a stroll around Thamel, a lively tourist hub. Later in the evening join in for a special welcome dinner and cultural show at an authentic Nepalese restaurant. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Head out on a sightseeing tour of the Kathmandu valley, and visit various ancient temples, monasteries other landmarks listed on the UNESCO world heritage site. Stroll around narrow alleyways and streets of the valley and witness the true culture and lifestyle of the region. In the evening join in for a short briefing with your guide about the trek and climbing. Overnight in Kathmandu

Today you will be heading towards the settlement of Chamje. The road follows the winding tracks of Prithvi Highway, following the Trishuli River and eventually following the Marsyangdi River. Passing settlements on the lush hills of central Nepal, towards Chamje, a small village in the lush Marsyangdi Valley. Chamje is the starting point for various treks of the region. Once you reach Chamje head towards your accommodation and rest. Overnight stay at Lodge in Chamje.

After breakfast, follow the trail towards Dharapani. Today you will be crossing several suspension bridges along the way. As, you progress on the trail cross a bridge over the Marsyangdi River, and you will come across the lush agriculture belt of the region. Passing across terrace farmlands of corn, barley, and potatoes. Following the trail, you will reach dense woodland of rhododendron and bamboo, towards the settlement of Tal, then towards Karte. From Karte traversing across a landslide section, this section of the trail is dotted with prayer wheels and mani walls. Following the trail, you will eventually reach Dharapani. Upon reaching Dharapani head towards your accommodation and later head out to explore the area. Overnight stay at Lodge in Dharapani.

Head towards the trail after early morning breakfast. Following the trail and crossing the river you will reach the settlement of Bagarchhap, a small Tibetan refugee village. Crossing the village and you will be traversing on dense woodlands with majestic views of snowcapped giants. Following the trail on the banks of the Marshyangdi river, you will reach the settlement of Koto. Koto is one of the isolated villages on this trail and the gateway to the mystical Nar Phu Valley. From Koto following the trail, you will reach the settlement of Chame. Chame is the administrative headquarter of Manage District. The settlement provides various types of basic to luxury amenities. Today’s trek will take you deeper into the Marsyangdi Valley. The first section of the trail takes you toward the settlement of Bharathang. From Bharathang, head towards Dhukur Pokhari, this part of the trail is filled with wonders of the Himalayas and pristine blue rivers. As you follow the trail you will come across a section with huge mountain carvings. The carving is known as Swarga Dwari, translated as ‘Gates to Heaven.’ This natural structure is unique. From here as you progress on the trail you will reach Dhukur Pokhari. From Dhukur Pokhari, start on an ascending trail crossing suspension bridges and an iconic football field of the region to Upper Pisang. The village is nestled on the banks of the mighty Marsyangdi River with views of Annapurna II on the backdrop. Once you reach the village head towards your accommodation and rest, later head out to explore the region and have friendly conversations with the locals learning about their culture and lifestyle. Overnight stay at Lodge in Upper Pisang.

This is your day of acclimatization as you climb higher, your body needs to adapt to the thin air in higher altitudes. An acclimatization excursion helps your body to adapt to these higher elevations. The village has several vantage points ideal for an acclimatization hike. After breakfast, head out to any vantage point to witness mesmerizing views of sunrise, next head towards the settlement and start a conversation with friendly locals and observe their daily lifestyle. Then head towards the school of the region and later visit the nearby monastery. Overnight stay at Lodge in Upper Pisang.

Today after an early breakfast, head into the trail. This section of the trek is covered with dense woodlands as you progress on the trail you will come out to the wide Himalayan pastureland of the region known as Kharka. Kharka is summer pastureland for livestock of the region. Located on a ridge the region provides majestic views of the snowcapped giants. Once you reach Kharka head towards your camp and rest for a while. Later head out and explore the region. Overnight stay at Tented Camp in Pisang Peak Base Camp.

After breakfast, follow the trail towards Pisang Peak High Camp. The path is nontechnical, but attitude can be a problem for some. As you are gaining 1000 meters, so take it slow and have frequent rest. This section of the trail has a narrow path and sheer cliffs so take extra caution. As you reach the high camp the terrain is covered with snow and lose rocks. Upon reaching high camp rest for a while. Next, after lunch set out for Pre-climb training. Organize your gears, and the climbing guide will provide you with techniques and training sessions. The guides will demonstrate the proper use of a harness, ascender, carabiner, rappel device, ice axe, etc. As part of the training session, you will have to climb up and descend using ropes. This pre-climb training is critical, especially for first-time climbers, as it will increase their confidence. After training head towards your tent and rest as tomorrow you will have to wake early. Overnight stay at Tented Camp in Pisang Peak High Camp.

Wake up around midnight and make an early start by 1 or 2 AM. It is very vital to start early at high elevation the weather deteriorates as the day progresses. Following your climbing guide, the trail takes you to a steep incline on a ridgeline. As you progress on the trail you will traverse snowy terrain. The climb is non-technical, but you will be using fixed ropes on some sections. As you follow the trail you will reach the summit of the Pisang Peak. From the summit witness grandeur views of the Chulu range, Annapurna Range, Damodar peaks, Manaslu, Glacier Dome, and Tilicho Peak. Spend a brief time at the summit and head back towards the base camp. Overnight stay at Tented Camp in Pisang Peak Base Camp.

If your summit attempt on Day 10 is called off due to weather conditions or lack of proper fitness, this extra day has been set aside for summiting, this day can also be used in the case of an emergency, such as flight delays or cancellations and other unanticipated situations. If all goes according to plan, the additional day may be used to take it easy and explore more of the path. Alternatively, you might spend the additional day tour in Kathmandu.

Today you will be covering a large section on the trail, and mostly descending. After breakfast head towards the trail, you will cross the settlements of Upper Pisang village and Dharapani. Next, traversing across the lush and deep wilderness, passing several villages to the settlement of Chame. Upon reaching Chame head towards your tea house and celebrate your success of climbing with your team. Overnight stay at Lodge in Chame.

From Chame, after a late breakfast head towards the trail. Following the banks of the Marsyangdi River. Once you reach the highway head on to your transportation towards Kathmandu. The drive takes you past bustling settlements on the section of the central hills of Nepal. Once you arrive in Kathmandu, you will be driven to your accommodation. The rest of the day is yours to explore head towards various attractions around the valley or go for souvenir shopping. In the evening, attend a special cultural programmer with a farewell dinner to commemorate the end of your journey.

Today after breakfast, our staff will drop you off at the airport, and bid farewell to your newfound friends as well as Nepal. NOTE: All of the trekking hours and distances mentioned above are estimates and should only be used as a general guideline.

Travel Insurance:

All clients participating in any activity must have travel insurance. Every client must have a valid passport from the return date with a 6 months prior validity by the Nepalese consulate in your country or immigration office at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu.
