Itinerary

Taking flight from kathmandu to Pokhara international airport and settel in hotel.

After breakfast head on a short drive to the town of Hemja located on the northern part of the valley. Hemja is the starting point of various short treks around the region. Upon reaching Hemja and after a brief rest start the trek, traversing across the lush sub-tropical woodlands. Progressing on the trail reach the pictorial settlement of Ghachok, from here witness grand views of the snowcapped peaks and several settlements perched on the hills of central Nepal. Next, following the ascending route head towards Hile Kharka. Upon reaching the high meadow rest and relax soaking in the views of sunset.

Today’s trail takes you traversing across fairytale woodlands of rhododendron, oaks, mixture of pines with moss drapped tress and miles of undergrowth. Traversing through the forested trail witness views of Machhapuchhre, Dhaulagiri and Annapurna. As you progress you will reach Samsur Deurali. From here after a brief walk you will finally reach Khumai Danda, offering grand views of the pictorious Machhapuchhre. After a brief refreshment break head out to explore the settlement and also start friendly conversations with the locals learning about their way of life and culture.

After breakfast start your hike toward Korchan Danda. The hike takes you traversing ridge sections offering grand views of the landscape. Upon reaching Korchan Danda soak in the splendid views of the sun rising over the Himalayas turning the snow-white peak into an array of colors. Witness views of Mardi, Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, and various other peaks of the region. After witnessing, the sunrise retraces your steps back to Khumai Danda and eventually to Ghachok. From here head on a short drive to Pokhara. Note: All of the above-mentioned trekking hours and distances are estimations and should only be used as a general guideline.

Permits required for Khumai Danda Trek:

The following permits are required for the trek.

  • ACAP entry permit fee for foreigners: 3,000 NPR (Approx. US $30)
  • ACAP entry permit fee for SAARC nationals: 200 NPR

TIMS Permit:

  • NRP 1,000 per person for organized treks through an agency
  • NRP 2,000 per person for independent trekkers (going without a guide or porter)

Travel Insurance:

All clients participating in any activity must have travel insurance. Personal injury, death, hospital expenditures, repatriation fees, helicopter rescue, and any other disease covered by the insurance plan will be given, we highly advise you to acquire a comprehensive insurance plan from a trustworthy insurance company.

Passport and Visa:

Every client must have a valid passport from the return date with a 6 months prior validity by the Nepalese consulate in your country or immigration office at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu.

Meals and Drinking Water:

In popular trekking areas like Annapurna, Everest, Langtang, and Manaslu have a menu system with different ethnic cuisines foods as well as western meals, but some places provide you with typical Nepali meals which are different from international meals, these meals are prepared by the local supplement, every tourist lodge and tea house has a well-trained cook basically attention to clean, hygienic, fresh, and delicious foods, every lodge has safe drinking water or mineral water. If you buy water purification tablet from Kathmandu you can take water from the tap and purify it by yourself, this will be cheaper and control plastic pollution as well.

Accommodation:

You will find local accommodations in the form of trekking lodges and teahouses, which are situated every hour or so along the trail. These accommodations provide basic facilities such as food, electricity, and clean rooms. The rooms generally have twin sharing beds and a single bed, with good quality mattresses that reduce the weight of your backpack. You can expect a hygienic and comfortable atmosphere at these accommodations. The dining rooms usually have a central heating system that uses firewood to keep you warm and cozy during your stay. This is also a great place to rest and connect with other travelers by sharing your stories. Additionally, campsites are available along the trail for those who want to experience camping in the outdoors.

Best Time to Visit?

The best time for the trek is during autumn and spring. The months of September, October, November, March, April, and May are the best time to visit as the weather conditions are better for exploring the high mountain terrain with good visibility.

During autumn, the weather is clear and warm, making it perfect for trekking on high Himalayan terrains. In spring, from March to May, the landscape changes with blooming trees of Rhododendron, mixed with Confers, Oaks, Orchids, and ferns, along with colorful wildflowers, making the region look stunning.

The monsoon season, with harsh weather conditions, is usually avoided by trekkers. The winter season, with heavy snowfall, covers most of the trail, making it challenging to access higher grounds in the region.

  • Guidelines regarding essential trekking gears.
  • Daypack above 40 liters. (Must be waterproof)

  • Warm sleeping bag (rental available)
  • Sun head, gulf cap, sunglasses, headlamp, and torchlight.
  • Ear-muffs, sun Lotions/sun cream.
  • One pair of liner gloves is thin wool and synthetic.
  • Cotton t-shirts, Synthetic t-shirts.
  • Two Long sleeve polyester or synthetic lightweight for sunny days.
  • One Soft-shell jacket water & wind resistance.
  • Inner clothes as your requirement.
  • Liner socks, woolen socks.
  • Proper trekking shoes.
  • Imodium or Pepto Bismo capsules for upset stomach or diarrhea.
  • Diamox for altitude sickness. The guide will help you to take it.
  • One small personal-sized first-aid kit with blister treatments such as moleskin, bands, anti-infection ointments, muscle relief ointments.
