Itinerary

Upon landing in Bhutan, a representative from Female Guide Holiday will greet you and escorts you to your hotel. After settling in, head on a fascinating day tour of Paro, a beautiful town nestled in the Paro Valley. The first stop takes you to the Dungste Lhakang, a 15th-century temple that boasts of intricate wood carvings and stunning murals. From here, catch a glimpse of Ugyen Perli Palace, which lies just beyond the temple's fence. The palace is a testament to Bhutan's rich history and architecture. Next, visit Rinpung Dzong, a fortress monastery that has stood tall for over 350 years. The dzong's towering walls and intricate woodwork make it a sight to behold. Inside, the place visits an assembly hall adorned with paintings that depict the life of Buddha and a courtyard that hosts vibrant festivals and events throughout the year. After exploring Rinpung Dzong, proceed toward the National Museum, which houses a collection of Bhutanese art, artifacts, and historical objects. The museum's exhibits provide a fascinating insight into the country's rich cultural heritage. Then head towards Kichu Lhakhang, the oldest Bhutanese temple, dating back to the 7th century. The temple was believed to be built on the left foot of a demoness, which is why it is considered a place of great spiritual significance. After the tour is completed head back to your accommodation. Today, after breakfast proceed on a scenic hike to the Taktsang monastery popularly known as the Tiger's Nest. The monastery is one of the most sacred places in Bhutan, perched on a steep cliff and offering enchanting views of the Paro valley. The hike to the top takes about 4-5 hours and offers you with the stunning natural beauty of the surrounding mountains and valleys. As you climb higher gaining altitude, you will see the monastery come into view, seemingly suspended in mid-air, surrounded by clouds and mist. Legend has it that Guru Padmasambhava introduced Buddhism to Bhutan, and meditated at Taktsang for three years, three months, three weeks, three days, and three hours. This holy site is a testament to his profound spiritual teachings and serves as a symbol of Bhutanese culture and identity. After completing the hike, retrace your steps back down the valley and head on a long drive to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. Overnight in Thimphu.

In Thimphu, you will visit landmarks such as the National Memorial Chorten, the Drubthob Gonpa/Zilukha Nunnery, the majestic Tashi Chhoe Dzong (Fortress of Glorious Religion), the gigantic Buddha Dordenma Statue, the Takin Sanctuary, the National Library that houses ancient manuscripts, the National Institute of Traditional Medicine, the mini zoo, and many other prominent cultural heritage buildings. We may also visit the Textile Museum, the Handicraft Emporium, the traditional paper factory, and the majestic Tashichho Dzong. Some places are closed on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays), and thus we will explore the Weekend Market instead. Overnight in Thimphu.

Today you will be immersed into the hidden wonders of Thimphu. Your day will begin with a visit to the Memorial Chorten, a beautiful and revered monument built in honor of the late Third King of Bhutan. Next, you'll have the opportunity to explore the serene Zilukha Nunnery and the Takin Sanctuary, where you can catch a glimpse of the national animal of Bhutan, the Takin. As you continue your journey through Thimphu, you'll visit a variety of cultural institutions that showcase Bhutan's rich heritage and traditions. These will include the Indigenous Hospital, the Textile Museum, the Heritage Museum, the Traditional School of Arts and Crafts, and the magnificent Tashicho Dzong. Later in the day, you'll have the chance to explore the Zangdopelri temple and visit the renowned paper factory, where you can see firsthand how Bhutanese paper is made using traditional methods. After the tour is completed proceed toward Punakha. Overnight in Punakha.

After breakfast head on a guided tour to explore the fascinating town of Wangdue Phodrang, one of the largest districts in Bhutan. Here discover its rich cultural heritage and natural beauty. The first part of the tour takes you to the Wangdue Phodrang Dzong, a majestic Buddhist monastery perched atop a hill, built in 1638, with intricate stone carvings that reflect the ancient Buddhist traditions and beliefs of Bhutan. Next, proceed on a scenic drive across dense oak and rhododendron woodlands and reach the charming village of Gangtey, surrounded by breathtaking snow-capped mountains. Here visit the Gangtey Monastery, also known as Gangtey Sanga Choeling Goemba, founded in 1613, The Monastery offers panoramic views of the Black Mountain ranges and the Phobjikha valley. Next head towards the Phobjikha villages, here witness the traditional houses and local markets, and learn about the unique way of life and culture of the locals. After the tour is completed head back to your accommodation at Punakha.

After an early breakfast, embark on a scenic long drive to Phuentsholing. Along the way, witness the picturesque views of Bhutan’s countryside with its cascading waterfalls, dotted settlements, and majestic mountains. Along the way learn about the country's culture and try local cuisines. Upon reaching Phuentsholing, explore the local market. Later visit the Bhutan Gate, a landmark that symbolizes the friendship between Bhutan and India. Later head towards the Zangtho Pelri Lhakhang, a beautiful temple with intricate carvings and paintings that showcase the rich Buddhist traditions of Bhutan. After the tour is completed head back to your accommodation or stroll around the streets. Overnight in Phuentsholing.
