The Tsum valley Trek takes you off the main route and across the less-traveled trails of the Manaslu region. To some of Nepal’s most remote and least explored areas. Entry and Permits:
The following permits are required for trekking to Tsum Valley Trek
Restricted Area Permit for Tsum Valley:
- September to November (Autumn Season) is US$ 40 for the first week and then US$ 7
for each additional day spent in the restricted area.
- December to August (winter, spring, and Summer Seasons) is US$ 30 for the first week,
than US$ 7 for each additional day spent in the restricted area.
Manaslu Region:
- Special Restricted Area Permit for Manaslu (Manaslu RAP): (Approx. US $30)
Manaslu Conservation Area Project (MCAP Permit)
- September to November: USD 100 per person for the first seven days and an additional USD 15 per person per day from the eighth day onwards.
- December to August: USD 75 per person for the first seven days and an additional USD 10 per person per day from the eighth day onwards.
Travel Insurance:
Travel insurance is required for all clients engaging in any activity. We strongly urge you to obtain a complete insurance plan from reputable insurance.
Passport and Visa:
Every client must have a valid passport from the return date with a 6-month prior validity by the Nepalese consulate in your country or the immigration office at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu.

Itinerary
Upon arriving at Tribhuvan international airport a representative from the Female Guide Kathmandu will greet you and assist you with your accommodation. Upon arriving at your hotel rest for a while and later head out to explore Thamel a touristic hub of Kathmandu. In the evening join in for a brief orientation regarding the trek.
After breakfast proceed on a guided tour of the city. The valley of Kathmandu is dotted with several ancient landmarks. First head towards Swayambhunath Stupa popular known as Monkey Temple. Set on a high hill on the western side of the valley the Stupa is dotted with several temples and ancient landmarks. Also, witness panoramic views of the valley and the rows of snowcapped mountain peaks to the north.
After breakfast head on a long drive toward the northern part of the country. The ride takes you following the winding roads of the Prithivi Highway. Along the way witness rows of never-ending hills of central Nepal and various river networks dissecting the hills. Also, soak in the beauty of snowy white peaks. Along the way pass various settlements along riverbanks and hilltops. As you cross the settlement of Dhading Besi you will be following the bumpy rods till the village of Soti Khola nestled on the banks of the mighty Budi Gandaki River.
Today is your first day of the trek. Start by crossing a suspension bridge over the mighty Budi Gandaki River. Progressing along the trail witness agricultural fields and rice paddies. As you pass the fields the canopy denses, and you will be traversing along lush woodlands of sub-tropical jungles. Following the trail, you will come up a rushing waterfall and from here the trail takes you following rocky tracks to the village of Lubu Besi. Progressing on the trail you will pass various rocky sections and sandy riverbanks eventually descending and crossing a suspension bridge to the village of Machha Khola.
Start the trek by descending a narrow path along the Thado Khola River and towards Khola Besi. Continuing along the trial reach the village of Tatopani. Next, ascending on a series of stone paved stairs and past a landslide section to the settlement of Doban perched over a ridge. Ascending down the ridge you will be traversing along the banks of the mighty Budi Gandaki River valley. As you progress cross a suspension bridge over the Yak Kharka Khola. Following the ascending and descending trail the trail takes you toward the western side of the Budi Gandaki River. Following the ridges, you will eventually reach the village of Jagat nestled in the river valley.
After a short walk, you will enter the Tsum Valley. At the entrance of the valley, the permits and documents are checked. Ascending on a ridge section you will reach the village of Salleri from where the trail descends and leads you to the settlement of Sirdibas. As you progress you will be traversing along the river valley which gets wider and wider and leads to the Ghat Khola. Crossing a suspension bridge over Ghatta Khola and after a brief walk, you will reach the isolated settlement of Phelim. Then the trail turns north along mesmerizing woodlands and grand views of the landscape to the village of Chisapani.
After breakfast start your trek crossing the secluded villages of the region. As you progress the trail leads you across cascading waterfalls, and dense woodlands of Pines, and Georges. Also, witness grand views of the Buddha Himal and Himalchuli. Next ascending along the northern trails soaking in the grand view reach the hillside village of Gumlung. From Gumlung cross the Siyar Khola and witness the grandeur views of the Siringi Himal dominating the skyline. Following the trail finally, reach the village of Chumling. After a brief rest at your tea house head out to explore the settlement. Visit the ancient Chumling Monastery and attend to the monks chanting sacred prayers and also get insight into the lives of the people of the region.
Today you will be exploring the deeper sections of the Tsum Valley. The hike is short and comparatively easier today. The village of Chumling and Chokhangparo are known as the twin village. Traversing along mountain country witness mesmerizing views of the Ganesh Himal all along the trail. As you progress you will reach the village of Gho. Next ascending along the trail following the river network you will finally reach the settlement of Chokhangparo. After a brief rest head out to soak in the beauty of the region and bask in the views of the Himalchuli and Ganesh Himal ranges.
Today’s trek is short but takes you across the astonishing beauty of the region. After breakfast start the trek ascending above the settlement of Chokhangparo across a suspension bridge. Along the way visit the Ranchen Gumba and attend to monks chanting prayers and practicing rituals. Next, cross the Shiar Khola and proceed toward the village of Lar, Phoebe, and Pangdun. Following the high trails reach the rural village of Chhule. Here visit the ancient Stupa of the region. Then continue ascending trails across a bridge. After a brief walk, you will eventually reach the village of the Nile. After rest head out to explore the village. Also, visit the famous Chhule Monastery nestled above the village on the backdrop of the mighty Himalayas.
Today you will reach closer to the northern border of Nepal and Tibet. The landscape here is different, and you will witness the grand beauty of the landscapes around. After breakfast start the trek. A short walk along the valley and you will finally reach Mu Gompa. Upon reaching the region head towards your tea house and relax soaking in the views around.
Today after breakfast head out to explore the region. Start by following the trails leading towards the northern part of the village after a brief walk follow the west trail and ascend towards the Mu Gompa nestled on the backdrops of the mighty mountains. After reaching Mu Gompa explore around and learn about the ancient history and culture of the place. Next head towards the Dhephu Doma Gomba and later head back towards your accommodation.
After breakfast starts the trek down the valley. Along the way visit the Milarepa Cave. The cave is a historical landmark and is regarded as the most sacred cave in the Tsum Valley. It’s here that Milarepa the famous Tibetan saint attend his enlightenment. After exploring the cave and learning about the rich history of the region head on a descending route toward the village of Burgi. If you are looking for an extra adventure, you can hike up to the Pika Himal Base Camp at an elevation of 4865 meters. From the base camp witness grand views of the greater Himalayan range.
After breakfast retrace your steps back down the valley. Progressing on the trail reach the village of Paro and Gho. Next, further descending cross a suspension bridge over the Sarpsu Khola and reach Lower Tsum Valley. Then following the trail, you will finally reach the settlement of Chumling.
Today’s trek is most on the downward section, so take it slow and have frequent rest. Following the descending route pass the village of Lokpa and head southwards. Along the way witness mesmerizing views of the topography. As you progress you will pass the stunning Sambu Falls and eventually arrive at the village of Philim.
Start the trek after breakfast. Traversing along lush woodlands of sub-topical jungles. Following the trail, you will cross the village of Sirdibas, Doban, and ascending to the village of Tatopani. From Tatopani, after a brief walk, you will finally reach Khorlabesi.
Following the rocky trails head out of Khorlabesi. After progressing for a while, you will cross the Tharo Khola and descend towards Machha Khola. Traversing along the banks of the mighty Budhi Gandaki River Valley pass a series of waterfalls and networks of rivers and streams. Continuing along the trail reach the village of Lububesi. Then pass the settlement of Khursani. Following the riverbank and crossing lush Sal woodland reach the settlement of Soti Khola.
Wake up early and soak in the views of the sunrise. After breakfast heads towards your vehicle and proceed on a long drive towards Kathmandu. The drive takes you following the rapids of the mighty Budhi Gandaki and Trishuli River. Along the way witness views of rolling hills and snowcapped mountains. Upon arriving at Kathmandu head towards your accommodation and rest. If you are not too tired head out to explore Thamel, a tourist hub of the region. Later in the evening join in for a special farewell dinner program to mark the end of your successful adventure.
Our staff will pick you up from your hotel and drive you to the airport. Now you say your goodbyes to Nepal and head back home. Note: All of the above-mentioned trekking hours and distances are estimations and should only be used as a general guideline.
