Start your adventure with a drive to Sankhu, one of the oldest settlements in the valley. Discover the rich history and architectural landmarks before heading toward Nagarkot. Nestled at a ridge at an elevation of 2,175 meters the vantage point provides grand views of Kathmandu valley. Lush complex networks of hills, and extraordinary views of the greater Himalayan range. Views of up to eight different Himalayan ranges from Annapurna, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Jugal, Rolwaling, Everest, and Number can be seen from here. On the following day, head to Changunarayan Temple, nestled on a hilltop surrounded by lush woodland and a small village of Changu. Itinerary
Wake up early and after breakfast head on a short drive to Sankhu. Located on the northeastern corner of Kathmandu Valley which is about a 17 km of drive. The journey takes around 45 minutes. After reaching the ancient Newar town start your hike toward Nagarkot. Following the trials across the central hills of Nepal start the trek. As you gain in elevation witness grand views of the lush green rolling hills, white snowcapped peaks and the wide Kathmandu Valley. Traversing along the trail for about 3 to 4 hours you will eventually reach Nagarkot perched at an elevation of 2,175 meters. Upon reaching you accommodation relax and rest. Later enjoy the grand views of the sun setting. Overnight in Nagarkot.
Wake up before dawn and witness the grand views of sunrise from above the clouds. Also, soak in the beautiful views of the Himalayas and green networks of hills. Next, after breakfast following the downhill trail head towards the Changunarayan Temple. Along the way cross several villages and lush sections of woodlands. Upon reaching the Changunarayan Temple explore the temple premises and learn about the rich history and culture of the locals. Also, witness each corner of the temple glorified with its unique architecture. Considered to be the oldest temple in the history of Nepal, it is set on a high hill and a few miles north of Bhaktapur. After exploring the around head towards Bhaktapur Durbar Square. The Durbar Square consists of various ancient temples, palaces and monuments. Also considered as a living museum here observe the way of life of the people and also learn about the history of the ancient city. After exploring the Bhaktapur Durbar Square head on the short drive towards your accommodation. The drive takes around an hour or so. Upon arriving at your accommodation rest for a while. Later if you are not too tired head out to explore Thamel a tourist hub of the region. Overnight in Kathmandu.
